adoptions and returns and open house

Every hound that gets a new home , takes the chance of being returned. we have had several this past month, People do not realize how hard it is on the greyhounds, I don't ever think I have had one returned when it was there(greyhounds) fault, People have babies, move, change jobs or just get tired of the responsibility and the pets are the first to go. You name it and I have heard it, reasons for being returned, The latest was " the dog peed on my Bush" they had him for a year. It is easy to lose faith in humans, dogs never lose it in us, The kennel is full and we havent taken in any new dogs from the track since June, Maybe they were just suppose to live out there lives here at the farm. I was hoping that we would get low enough on hounds that I could go to work part time too help ease the strain of the bills, that is not going to happen anytime soon.
Everyone worked so hard for the open house and the shop and kennel were beautiful, I want to thank you for coming out and seeing the hounds, Out of 30 hounds, we had 4 that received a special gift from our adopters, THANK YOU, we sold around 400.00 in items from the shop along with two donations. If we do not do adoptions or get a pesonal donation, we do not have any income, Britt and Tim and andrea and robert, make a special point to help us every month.

We did not sell enough kits (pretzels) to make the order so I will be sending back the money to Patches mom, we didnt even come close, Yes, I am worried, can we hold on to the farm? I don't know, we are going to try, We have alot of lifetime hounds here that are depending on me. I had a call today(and they come alot) and the owner said if I didnt take his hounds that they were going to be put down, we DON'T have any room, so I can't sleep, we can only take what we can hold and feed and take care of, Jason is coming tomorrow to give me a much needed break, he will be king of the farm for a day,
